How to validate my diploma or certificate
Hard-copy Diplomas and Certificates
- The SURETYLOCK feature, which adds a discrete QR code watermark on the back of hard-copy diplomas, is an additional method of verification that can be scanned for real-time authentication of the document’s validity. The details include Name of Institution, Name of Recipient, Conferral Date and Publisher. Scanning the code also enables the student a convenient reorder option if applicable
Electronic Diplomas and Certificates
- Johns Hopkins University provides all graduates with digitally signed and encrypted Certified Electronic (Ce) Diplomas and Certificates that contain a unique serial number, allowing the documents to be independently and securely authenticated by employers, government agencies, and other entities that wish to validate a student’s Hopkins credential.
- Additional information about CeDiplomas and Certificates, as well as instructions for external parties regarding validation of Hopkins credentials, are available on the Office of the University Registrar’s Diplomas page. Real-time validation of a CeDiploma or Certificate’s 12-digit Certified Electronic Document Identifier (CeDiD) using the CeCredential Trust platform on the Office of the University Registrar’s website is one of two ways to verify the authenticity of a Hopkins credential.
How do I open my diploma tube?
- The diploma may arrive in a 3-piece telescopic tube, if it does, please see below.
- For security purposes the address label is wrapped around the opening seam of the tube. Please note – If you do not remove the diploma from the packaging tube correctly, you will run the risk of accidentally tearing or damaging it. To prevent damage, please follow these instructions:
- Find the seam to open the tube underneath the shipping label.
- Peel the label from the corner to expose the seam. You may also cut gently on the seam line, but please be careful to not damage the contents of the tube.
- Twist the tube at the seam and pull to remove the top cap portion. Lift out the diploma with a gentle rotating pull motion. Do not pull the diploma straight out. Instead, use 2 fingers, place them in the middle, and slowly twist the diploma out.
